New City Hall and Building Department building built without any new debt to the city (no mortgage). Council has been good stewards of your money and has been very conservative while saving up in order to complete this project. Serving our customers with professionalism is our goal.

Redevelopment Zones We continue to look at ways to upgrade older sections of the city to become more productive. Tax abatement programs have been used to attract new jobs and businesses. This abatement is performance based and only rewarded on the back end.

Business Advisory Board was created to get small business owners involved in updating West Melbourne’s codes. The Business Advisory Board also can suggest other changes to the Council.

Attracted New Businesses Hammock Landings Shopping Center - A great place to shop and eat Coastal Commerce Center; Rooms-To-Go, Chuck E. Cheese (coming soon) Many small retail and non-retail businesses have located into our city. Many millions of dollars have been spent on upgrading current businesses.

Water Issues Improved relations with the City of Melbourne with anticipation in leading to a new water agreement by year-end to benefit West Melbourne. I had many face-to-face good meetings with Melbourne’s Mayor Harry Goode. We still have over 15 years left on our current contract with Melbourne. I will continue looking at all reasonable water options.

Infrastructure Improved reclaimed water performance, quality, and reliability for our reclaimed water customers. New potable water lines on Hollywood Blvd, and the M1 canal water line to improve water pressure, service and reliability. Minton Road water line is scheduled to begin late this year. This project will help to ensure better fire-flow protection.

Improved Government to serve you better Hired new City Manager, certified City Clerk, and our own in-house city attorney for a top-notch professional staff. We have retained our police chief with a savings of over $80,000 over the life of the contract. We have consolidated staff and not replaced vacant positions except for Police and critical positions. We are living within our means! New telephone system has been installed for quicker communication with the public. In the process of converting the old City Hall to become a Veterans Community Center for our residents.
